Bearing Details and Uses
Ball Bearing
Ball bearings are one of the most common types of bearing classes used. It consists of a row of balls as rolling elements. They are trapped between two annulus-shaped metal pieces. These metal pieces are known as races. The inner race is free to rotate
Advantages of ball bearings :
Good wear resistance
Do not need much lubrication
Provide low friction
Long service life
Easy to replace
Disadvantages of ball bearings:
May break due to shocks
Can be quite loud
Cannot handle large weights
Taper Roller Bearing
Tapered roller bearings are rolling element bearings that can support axial forces (i.e., they are good thrust bearings) as well as radial forces.
Tapered roller bearings can be adjusted and dismantled, which makes mounting easy.
Needle Roller Bearing
Needle roller bearings are made up of needle rollers and cages. The cage prevents the needle rollers from contacting each other, allowing for smooth rolling.
They are used in a wide range of applications, including:
Cars, Motorcycles, Electric machinery, Machine tools, Aerospace devices.
They are relatively expensive compared to other types of bearings and they tend to produce more noise.
